Plane Jane

Working a new plane, a new style for me. It looks like a toted wooden smoother, which it is, but the guts will be metal and the wood will just be a shell. That silver blob next to the blue clamp is the frog. It fits into that giant 2″ x 2¾” mortise, will be attached to a steel sole plate and will move. Haven’t figured out how the sole will attach or what to do about a lever cap. The body is being carved out of one big chuck of pear which unfortunately has lots and lots of bark inclusions and now has lots and lots of epoxy.
